The 34th ABC conference is on the books.
The Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) is set to convene for its annual summit July 22-27 at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the organization announced Friday.
The first two days of the conference will consist of referee and judge classes. Meetings will run the final three days with topics such as potential rule changes, medical practices, sports policies, safety issues and committee updates under discussion. A full agenda for the conference will be released later this year.
The ABC is the unified governing body that oversees and regulates mixed martial arts and boxing events throughout the United States. Numerous state athletic commissions are part of the ABC. Each year, commissioners and officials from around the United States meet at the annual conference to discuss numerous issues pertaining to combat sports.
The commission is currently headed by president Mike Mazzulli of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation. Vice presidents are Mark Langlais of the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection and Scott Bowler of the Utah Athletic Commission.
After a one-year hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 ABC conference took place in Orlando, Fla., and featured various guest speakers from different perspectives in the combat sports world.
