Chael Sonnen makes bold BMF prediction for UFC 272

Chael Sonnen wants there to be a little more at stake for the main event of UFC 272. Currently, it’s a grudge match between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal with only pride currently at stake.

Chael Sonnen thinks the main event could potentially be for the BMF title that was created back in November for the fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. The UFC has not exactly shown a willingness to bring it back.

“Nobody seems to want that except for me but I think perhaps with the clues that were given, even if it’s a little tiny baby step, I feel as though we’ve made it in that direction,” the former UFC title challenger said on his YouTube channel. “Cause what if I am wrong? What if that’s not on pay-per-view? No, come on that’s gonna be on pay-per-view, right?

“Ok, well what if that’s a (UFC) co-main event? What if they’re only gonna fight for three rounds? I wouldn’t have a problem with that, would you guys? But I think we’d be surprised. I feel as though we’re not squeezing all the juice out of that fight. Three rounds? That means you’ve just gotta get two takedowns if you’re wrestling heavy.”

It would be quite an interesting move if the UFC was to agree to make the main event a title fight for the BMF belt. The chances seem slim but as we know, in the UFC, anything is possible. Chael Sonnen is certainly not alone in hoping the BMF title makes a return.
