UFC 270: Ngannou vs. Gane odds, prediction: MMA insider releases surprising fight card picks, best bets

Heavyweight sluggers headline the main event of UFC 270 on Saturday as undisputed champion Francis Ngannou takes on interim champion Ciryl Gane for the unified belt. The main UFC 270 fight card is set for 10 p.m. ET from the Honda Center in Anaheim. Ngannou won the title with a second-round knockout of former champion Stipe Miocic in their rematch in March of last year. His first defense comes against the sleek and versatile Gane, who won the interim title with a third-round stoppage of veteran contender Derrick Lewis last August.

Gane is a -160 favorite (risk $160 to win $100), while Ngannou is priced at +140 in the latest Ngannou vs. Gane odds from Caesars Sportsbook. In the co-main event, champion Brandon Moreno is the -170 favorite in the UFC 270 odds as he meets former champion Deiveson Figueiredo (+150) in a trilogy match to settle their rivalry in the flyweight division. Before making any UFC 270: Ngannou vs. Gane picks, make sure you check out the MMA predictions and betting advice from SportsLine expert Andrew Gombas.

With more than 1,400 selections tracked by the third-party monitoring service Bet MMA, he has shown a 6 percent return on investment for his followers. Over the past two years, his followers have netted a profit of more than $10,000.

Just last week, Gombas kicked off the 2022 UFC season by telling SportsLine members to back underdog Calvin Kattar (+200) against Giga Chikadze (-240) in the featherweight main event. Kattar dominated the action from the opening bell to win a lopsided decision and give Gombas’ followers an easy winner. Anyone who has followed him already has seen massive returns.

Now, with UFC 270: Ngannou vs. Gane on deck, Gombas has studied the card from every angle and released his top MMA picks. Those picks and predictions. A successful parlay would result in a payout of better than 16-1. You can only see Gombas’ UFC 270 picks at SportsLine.

UFC Fight Night: Ngannou vs. Gane preview

The main event features what UFC president Dana White repeatedly has called perhaps the best stylistic matchup for a heavyweight title fight in the promotion’s history.

Ngannou (16-3) is widely believed to be the most powerful puncher who has ever set foot in the Octagon and his portfolio includes a vast array of violent knockouts.

However, back-to-back losses against Miocic and Lewis, a two-time title challenger, slowed Ngannou’s quest for the title. The Cameroon-born fighter vowed to work on other aspects of his game to avoid being regarded as one-dimensional, and his recent fights have shown improvement in grappling, takedown defense and conditioning.

Even so, the signature power remains his calling card and his last five fights have ended in knockout victories inside of two rounds. His rematch with Miocic saw the script flipped, as he dominated the contest before ending it with a counter uppercut in the second round.

Gane (10-0) is noted as one of the best overall athletes to ever thrive in the heavyweight division. He came from a background of kickboxing and Muay Thai fighting before transitioning to mixed martial arts. The 31-year-old French fighter has four wins by knockout and three by submission.

His versatile skill set was on display against Lewis as he used his reach and speed to set the pace early before moving and finishing Lewis in the third after stunning the slugger with a series of kicks and moving in for the finish. You can only see who to back at SportsLine.

    UFC 270 predictions

We’ll share one of Gombas’ UFC 270 picks here: He is siding with Ilia Topuria (-500) to defeat Charles Jourdain (+400) in a featherweight matchup on the preliminary card.

Topuria (11-0) has shown a well-rounded skill set while winning his first three fights with UFC and two of those victories coming inside the distance. The 24-year-old German knocked out grappling specialist Ryan Hall at UFC 264 last July.

Jourdain (12-4-1) is a three-year UFC veteran who has shown promise at times but struggled to gain consistent traction against upper-level competition. The 26-year-old Canadian is 3-3-1 in seven UFC outings.

“Topuria is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt and has great boxing. Jourdain is tough, but I think he is in for a rough night,” Gombas told SportsLine.

How to make UFC 270 selections

Gombas also has strong picks for Ngannou vs. Gane and other fights on the UFC 270 card. He’s expecting one fighter to “utilize a jab and leg kicks” to pick up a big win. Those UFC 270 picks are only available at SportsLine.
