UFC officially announces Covington vs. Masvidal │ GMA News Online

Two of the top welterweight mixed martial artists in the world are set to collide at UFC 272 when former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington takes on the hard-hitting fan-favorite Jorge Masvidal on March 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA.

“No need to hype this one,” UFC announced on Facebook earlier today.

Covington and Masvidal used to be best of friends until the former started talking trash to the latter often calling him a journeyman.

Covington, who holds a professional mixed arts record of 16-3, is coming off a competitive unanimous decision loss at the hands of reigning UFC welterweight world champion Kamaru Usman last November.

Masvidal, meanwhile, has suffered back-to-back losses to Usman with the last one being a highlight-reel knockout in the main event of UFC 261 in April 2021 at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Florida, USA.

“Colby is that one person, and I always say this, that wherever I see him it is a free pay-per-view right there and he knows that,” Masvidal told in a previous interview with ESPN.

“I got kicked out of the gym for trying to assault him one time. And then I used to go to the spots he used to frequent a lot and got the police called on me.”
